A seven-year-old boy, Shay Lynch, died after getting into difficulty in a swimming pool at the Lakeside hotel in Killaloe, County Clare.
The boy was from the nearby parish of Clonlara and had attended a birthday party at the hotel, was rushed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick where he was pronounced dead.
A statement said: “Gardaí and emergency services responded to an incident at a swimming pool on a premises in Killaloe, County Clare, shortly before 3pm on Saturday, April 20th, 2024.”
