Seventeen Norwegian Air pilots are planning to go on strike from June 1 if wage negotiations fail later this week, potentially leading to broader industrial action during the summer season.

The dispute could expand to involve 690 pilots employed by the company’s unit in Norway, with concerns raised by Norway-based pilots regarding work-life balance and equal pay compared to their colleagues in other European bases.

Norwegian has already renewed its collective agreement with pilots in Denmark and Spain, aiming to reach an agreement with Norwegian-based pilots through mediation.

The Norwegian Pilot Union, negotiating on behalf of the pilots, has not responded to requests for comment, with a formal deadline for mediation set for 2200 GMT on May 31 and potential strike action scheduled to begin on June 1, which could disrupt services during the peak summer season.
