Transatlantic passenger numbers through Shannon airport this bank holiday weekend are up 11pc on last year, Europe up by 60pc and Britain up by 33pc. Passenger numbers overall are up 37pc.
The airport anticipates 44k passengers during the October holiday period, marking the highest number of passengers since 2009, with 200 additional flights scheduled thanks to the third Ryanair-based aircraft.
