Shannon Airport experienced its busiest August in over 15 years, with over 233,000 passengers, representing a 5pc increase compared to August 2023, largely due to strong transatlantic performance.

The resurgence of Delta Air Lines’ New York-JFK service this summer has bolstered Shannon’s existing routes to North America, including Boston, Chicago, and New York/Newark.

The introduction of the Mobile Passport Control (MPC) app has streamlined the pre-clearance process for US-bound travellers, enhancing the travel experience from Shannon.

Over the first eight months of 2024, Shannon Airport saw a 7pc increase in passenger traffic, totalling over 1.4m travellers, and is poised to exceed 2m passengers for the first time since 2009, with services to 33 destinations across 11 countries.
