Shannon Airport Group has been awarded the Special Innovation Impact Award by the think tank organization, Asia Matters.

Asia Matters is a not-for-profit and apolitical membership institute that aims to build business links and understanding between Asia, the EU, and Ireland to promote partnerships and economic growth.

Shannon Airport Group received the award for its impressive history of innovation. Notably, Shannon Airport established the world’s first duty-free airport in 1947 and the world’s first free trade zone, the Shannon Free Zone, in 1959. Today, the airport continues to be a global leader in embracing cutting-edge technologies, positioning itself as Ireland’s premier aviation and aerospace innovation hub.
