Dublin-based SMBC Aviation Capital has signed a lease agreement with Thai Airways International for eight A321neo aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2026 and 2027.
The airline currently operates twenty A320-200s and aims to expand its fleet with thirty-two A321-200Ns expected over the next five years.
CEO Chai Eamsiri stated that the new narrowbody aircraft will focus on domestic and regional routes.
As of December 31, 2024, SMBC Aviation has 107 A320neo and fifty-one A321neo aircraft on order. It owns or manages 724 aircraft, including 103 A321neo aircraft, in its fleet.
