Spirit Airlines expects the number of parked A320neo Family aircraft to increase throughout 2024 due to mandatory engine inspections, reaching 41 by year-end.

The airline blames engine issues and ATC staffing problems for a reduction in its 1Q 2024 capacity growth guidance.

The engine-related groundings have already had a material impact on Spirit Airlines’ network, leading to the discontinuation of service at Denver International.

The situation is dynamic and hard to predict, and the airline is in negotiations with Pratt for compensation but expects only partial coverage of the grounding costs.
