Spirit Airlines us revealed plans to furlough approximately 1,800 flight attendants, one-third of its 5,200 cabin crew, effective 1 December 2025.

Voluntary furloughs begin 1 November 2025, with the number of volunteers determining involuntary cuts.

The airline plans a 25pc capacity reduction in November 2025 compared to 2024, following exits from 11 markets to focus on profitable segments.

Spirit’s fleet totals 214 Airbus narrowbodies: 62 A320-200s, 91 A320-200Ns, 29 A321-200s, and 32 A321-200NXs, with no fleet cuts yet.

The measures align with the second Chapter 11 bankruptcy filed in August 2025, after emerging from the first in March 2025.
