The Macnas Halloween Parade in Galway drew massive crowds of up to 80,000 spectators. Returning as the headline event of Galway’s Halloween weekend, the free street spectacle completely filled the city center.
- A Milestone Celebration: The parade marked the official 40th anniversary of Macnas, serving as the launchpad for a year-long celebratory program of artistic projects.
- The Creative Theme: Titled “Fiáin” (meaning wild), the performance was devised as a vibrant tribute to the wild elements of the West of Ireland and the raw energy that has fueled the company’s street performance roots over four decades.
- Signature Spectacle: Directed by James Riordan with lead design by Cherie White, the parade featured trademark Macnas giant illuminated puppets, intricate bespoke costumes, and interactive pyrotechnics.
- Community & Ensemble Cast: The massive production relied on the Macnas Creative Ensemble (45 professional artists and 300 volunteers) alongside hundreds of local youth performers, including the Macnas Young Ensemble, Youth Ballet West, and the Macnas Youth Drummers
