Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) plans to invest in updating and modernising Toronto Pearson Airport through a multibillion-dollar programme known as Pearson LIFT, which includes refurbishment of airport assets and investments in power generation.

The programme aims to meet the growing demand for airport services, with an expected increase in annual passengers from 45m in 2023 to about 65m by the early 2030s.

GTAA President and CEO, Deborah Flint, highlighted the need to invest in airport facilities and terminals to support future growth and enhance passenger experience.

The plan, informed by challenges faced in recent years due to a surge in airline traffic, will focus on fundamental improvements to prevent delays, improve efficiency, and ensure competitiveness.
