Nine international journalists have been hosted by Tourism Ireland from eight countries, England, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Scandinavia, representing publications like Vanity Fair and Metro.

The purpose was to explore filming locations of Netflix series ‘Wednesday’, enhancing interest in Ireland

The itinerary brought them to some of the show’s most recognisable backdrops, including Powerscourt Estate in County Wicklow (the waterfall, gardens and graveyard all feature in the new series) and Charleville Castle in County Offaly. They also visited the Swift Cultural Centre in Trim to learn about the upcoming Púca Festival. The trip coincided with the release of season two of ‘Wednesday’.

The journalists have an estimated reach of approximately 15 million people, likely increasing attention on Irish tourism

New figures published by the Revenue Commissioners show that the Irish-based co-production firm behind season two of the global Netflix ratings phenomenon Wednesday has received corporation tax credits here of between €20m to €60m this year, €10m to €30m for Nero Season 2B (Wednesday) and between €10m and €30m for Nero Season 2 in the first quarter of 2025.

Elmagh Killeen shared, “To coincide with the premiere of season two of ‘Wednesday’, we invited this group of influential international journalists to come and explore some of the show’s filming locations for themselves.”
