Tourism Ireland launched its marketing plans in New York aimed at increasing tourism from the United States, which represents 27pc of the island of Ireland’s overseas tourism revenue.

The campaign includes a new initiative called ‘Slow Tourism Month’ in June, encouraging visitors to explore Irish communities and landscapes at a leisurely pace and enjoy longer stays.

Key sporting events in 2025, such as The Open in Royal Portrush and the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin, will present opportunities to attract visitors, along with a planned regular season NFL fixture in autumn 2025 .

Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, noted that direct flights from 22 US gateways, including new services from Detroit, Indianapolis, and Nashville, will support the anticipated growth in travel to Ireland.
