Copenhagen’s tourist board is launching a trial scheme on July 15 where tourists can earn rewards by participating in environmentally friendly tasks while visiting the Danish capital.

Activities such as litter-picking, using public transport, and biking will earn visitors free lunches, coffees, wine, and kayak rentals.

The “CopenPay” scheme aims to offset the environmental impact of tourism in Copenhagen and encourage more sustainable behavior among tourists.

The project involves 24 attractions in the city and is a trust-based system without requiring proof of completed green activities. If successful, the scheme may be expanded throughout the year.
