Transavia France has cancelled its planned service from Paris Orly to Belgrade Nikola Tesla due to issues surrounding aircraft refuelling in Belgrade, stemming from US sanctions on fuel provider NIS.

The airline confirmed the route would be scrapped for “internal reasons,” effectively halting ticket sales for the service that was set to commence in July 2025.

Current operations between Paris and Belgrade remain with Wizz Air and Air Serbia, using Paris Beauvais and Paris CDG airports, respectively.

NIS, which is partially owned by Gazprom Neft, faces strict sanctions from the US and EU, complicating efforts for airlines operating in and out of Serbia.

The sanctions package introduced by the US government includes measures aimed at the Russian energy sector, with the last deadline for implementation postponed to April 28.
