Tripadvisor removed 12pc of its 31.1m reviews last year for suspected false claim

Tripadvisor removed over 2.7m fraudulent reviews in 2024, an increase from 2m in 2023.

The platform employs a three-pronged system that includes automated checks, human oversight, and community input: 87.8pc of Tripadvisor’s 31.1m reviews passed automated systems and were published, ,while 7.3pc were rejected by technological analysis and 4.9pc were flagged by moderators.

Approximately 9,000 businesses received warnings for incentivising reviews, and removed 214,000 AI-generated reviews.
