Sean Duffy, a third-generation Monaghan man and former star of MTV’s The Real World, is to be appointed as Trump’s secretary of transportation, overseeing the country’s aviation industry, a $110bn budget and ongoing funding from the 2021 infrastructure law.

Born on October 3, 1971, Duffy pursued a law degree after earning his marketing degree, launching his political career as Ashland County’s district attorney in 2002.

He represented Wisconsin’s 7th district in Congress from 2011 to 2019, noted for his advocacy of tax reform, limited government, and his support of Donald Trump.

Duffy announced plans to reverse emissions regulations finalized earlier in 2023, aiming to reduce tailpipe emission limits and promote electric vehicle production.
