United Airlines opens new fifth freedom routes from Hong Kong

United Airlines is to operate two new nonstop year-round daily services between Hong Kong and Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City using fifth freedom rights. 

Flights used a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with 257 seats including 48 flatbed seats in United Polaris business class. The flight to Bangkok departed Hong Kong at 0920 and arrived at 1125. The flight to Ho Chi Minh City departed Hong Kong at 2115 and arrived at 2255.

United reopened its United Club location in Hong Kong with nearly 6,000sqf of space.

Patrick Quayle shared “United continues to expand in places our customers want to travel, and our new services to Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City are great examples of that. By enhancing connectivity between Hong Kong and two of Southeast Asia’s most important business and leisure destinations, we’re further solidifying United’s position as the leading U.S. carrier in the region.”
