United Airlines received FAA certification for its first Starlink-equipped Boeing 737-800, with the first commercial flight set for 15 October 2025 from Newark/New York.
Over half of United’s regional fleet, including Embraer 175s, has Starlink installed, with 50 regional jets equipped monthly. Starlink offers free Wi-Fi to MileagePlus members, enabling streaming, shopping, and gaming at speeds up to 250 Mbps.
The FAA approved Starlink’s Supplemental Type Certificate for United’s 737-800, with plans to equip 16 aircraft types. The Starlink system is lighter and more reliable, reducing fuel use and simplifying installation compared to traditional equipment.
Grant Milstead shared: “Customers are loving the Starlink experience onboard our regional aircraft, and our first Starlink-equipped mainline aircraft will bring a superior inflight experience to even more people. We’re working to install Starlink and offer game-changing inflight entertainment experiences like streaming services, shopping, gaming and more.”
