The US Federal Aviation Administration has expanded an emergency airworthiness directive on MD-11 engine pylons to include McDonnell Douglas DC-10 aircraft on 19 November 2025.

The directive addressed the same unsafe condition that prompted the expansion following a UPS Airlines MD-11F crash during takeoff from Louisville International on 4 November 2025.

Seven DC-10s remained active in the United States operated by 10 Tanker Air Carrier, Omega Air and Orbis.  Eleven more aircraft stored included ten MD-10-30(F)s operated by FedEx Express and one DC-10-30(T) operated by Omega Air.

The three operators of MD-11F included FedEx Express with 58 units, UPS Airlines with 26 units and Western Global Airlines with 14 units.
