
July 2023 marked the twenty-eighth consecutive month of year-over-year growth in tourism arrivals to the United States. Visitor numbers reached 6,465,828, a significant increase of 24.8pc compared to July 2022.

The number of overseas visitor arrivals to the United States was 3,137,570, showing a positive growth of 21.1pc from July 2022.
This volume represents 84pc of the pre-COVID total visitor volume reported for July 2019, up from the previous month’s 79pc.
Colombia (-6.5pc) and Spain (-2.1pc) experienced a slight decrease in visitor volume in July 2023 compared to July 2022, while countries like Canada, Mexico, Britain, France, and Germany contributed the most to the international visitor arrivals, accounting for 63pc of the total.

As other countries inbound markets to USA grows, Ireland has slipped out of the top twenty source markets to the United States for July 2023. In 2022 Ireland was in 18th place when overall visitors numbers for the year were considered.
In terms of outbound travel, the departures of U.S. citizens from the United States in July 2023 reached 10,634,095, an increase of 16.5pc compared to July 2022, and amounted to 99pc of the pre-pandemic levels in July 2019. The YTD market share for North America (Mexico & Canada) was 49.4pc, while overseas destinations represented 50.6pc.
Mexico recorded the largest outbound visitor volume of 3,505,557, accounting for 33pc of total departures in July and 36.9pc year-to-date (YTD). Europe was the second largest market for outbound U.S. visitors with 2,316,272 departures, representing 21.8pc of all departures in July and 20.4pc YTD.
