Virgin Atlantic has initiated a codeshare agreement with SAS, a new member of the SkyTeam alliance, starting this week, allowing passengers from the US and Canada to access SAS flights to Scandinavia via Heathrow and Manchester.
SAS customers will have the opportunity to connect to Virgin Atlantic’s destinations in the Caribbean, Africa, Middle East, and South Asia, with services to Barbados, Jamaica, and more, subject to government approval.
The agreement includes reciprocal earning and redemption options for the frequent flyer programs Flying Club and EuroBonus on the codeshare flights.
SAS, which transitioned from Star Alliance to SkyTeam in September, looks forward to expanding travel options for its customers and enhancing loyalty programme benefits through this partnership.
Paul Verhagen, chief commercial officer at SAS, said: “This collaboration provides EuroBonus members with expanded opportunities to earn and redeem points across Virgin Atlantic’s extensive network, strengthening the value of our loyalty programme. We are very pleased to launch this new codeshare partnership with Virgin Atlantic, expanding SAS’s global reach and offering our customers even more travel options to new and exciting destinations such as Barbados, Jamaica, and Antigua, with additional destinations to be introduced later. We look forward to building a long-lasting and successful partnership with our SkyTeam partner, benefitting travellers on both sides.”
