Visa credit card data shows spending Dublin up 3pc on American football weekend

Visa credit card data shows a 3pc increase in spending in Ireland during the NFL Dublin Game weekend on 28 September 2025. US visitors increased spending by 24pc, and German visitors by 17pc, compared to the previous weekend.

Dublin small businesses saw an 18pc sales growth during the event. Physical spending in Dublin rose by 6pc, with restaurants up 5pc and entertainment/pubs up 8pc.

The NFL event attracted over 74,000 fans, boosting local economic activity.

Conor Langford shared: “The NFL Dublin Game demonstrates the economic potential of hosting global sporting events in Ireland. Our data shows that international visitors and local fans alike contributed to an uplift in spending, with many local businesses benefitting. It’s a clear example of how global moments can connect local businesses to new customers and growth.”
