Passengers were evacuated from American Airlines Flight 3023 at Denver International Airport due to a landing gear issue.
The Boeing 737 Max 8 was preparing for departure to Miami when the problem occurred on the runway.
All 173 passengers and six crew members were safely removed, with five people evaluated for minor injuries.
This incident follows another involving a Southwest flight that had a sudden nosedive to avoid a midair collision.
The FAA is investigating the incident, and American Airlines confirmed the aircraft was taken out of service for inspection.
The FAA shared, “American Airlines Flight 3023 reported a possible landing gear incident during departure from Denver International Airport around 2:45 p.m. local time Saturday, July 26.”
American Airlines shared, “All customers and crew deplaned safely, and the aircraft was taken out of service to be inspected by our maintenance team. We thank our team members for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for their experience.”
The Denver Fire Department shared, “Passengers evacuated on the runway and are being transported to the terminal by bus.”
