
The Chophouse in Ballsbridge, a well-known gastropub in the area for fifteen years, has announced its closure due to rising costs, despite efforts by owners Kevin Arundel and Jillian Mulcahy to keep it open.
The owners expressed immense sadness in their statement, paying tribute to their loyal team and customers who have enjoyed weddings, celebrations, and various events at the restaurant over the years.
The Chophouse restaurant in Ballsbridge was once hailed by celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain as where he had “the best f**king meal I’ve ever eaten in Dublin”.
Instagram users reacted with sadness to the news, recalling fond memories at The Chophouse and expressing that its closure is a significant loss to Dublin and a legacy that will be remembered.
The Sandymount branch of the restaurant will continue to operate as usual, while The Chophouse in Ballsbridge joins the list of popular Dublin establishments forced to close due to increasing cost pressures, including Ukiyo, Rustic Stone, and Brassiere Sixty6.
