WestJet confirmed the launch of three new seasonal routes from Halifax Stanfield International Airport to European destinations for summer 2026, which brought the carrier’s total transatlantic network from the airport to nine connections.

The airline revealed the additions on 18 November, including non-stop flights to Lisbon in Portugal, Madrid in Spain, and Copenhagen in Denmark.

These routes operated on Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft from May to October 2026 with frequencies of up to three times weekly for each. WestJet introduced daily service between Halifax and Detroit in Michigan starting in May 2026 to connect with Delta Air Lines’ global network.

WestJet resumed operations on its six existing European routes from Halifax for the same period, covering Barcelona in Spain, Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Dublin in Ireland, Edinburgh in Scotland, London Gatwick in England, and Paris in France, where passengers booked fares in euros for European segments such as return flights to Lisbon from €299.

Samantha Taylor shared “the expansion supports the carrier’s strategy to position Halifax as a gateway for Atlantic Canada.”

Joyce Carter shared “the routes complement current services and maintain the airport’s status as North America’s most internationally connected facility of its size.”

Colton LeBlanc shared “the developments as recognition of the province’s economic potential.”
