The owners of Westport House in Co Mayo have revealed updated details of their plan to invest up to €40m to develop a new visitor attraction, following a tender process initiated by Inishoo Management Ltd.
This project will encompass cultural, heritage, and family activities, with plans for a visitor center in the coach house, restoration of existing structures, and the creation of three landscaped wild realms.
The €40m initiative builds on a 2021 Fáilte Ireland grant of €20.2m, which aims to enhance heritage and cultural offerings at Westport Estate and transform it into a key tourism destination.
By 2033, Westport Estate is projected to attract over 277,000 visitors, contributing significantly to the economic and tourism landscape of the north-west region of Ireland.
