A 26-year-old woman from Co Wexford, Lidija Miliute, received €55,000 in damages after her legs and abdomen were scalded by tea during a Ryanair flight.

The incident occurred while she was traveling back from Lithuania when a cup of tea slipped from a defective “slanted” tray table.

Lidija Miliute, raised in Wexford with Lithuanian parents, recounted the details of the accident in court, leading to the awarded compensation.

This case highlights issues related to airline safety and customer care during flights, increasing the scrutiny on service protocols.

The case is one of over 100 alleged scalding incident complaints filed against Aer LINgus and Ryanair.
