Wyndham Hotels and Resorts has opened its room inventory and pricing directly to autonomous AI booking agents to drive direct bookings and lower customer acquisition costs. The strategy allows AI assistants to search and book rooms on behalf of travellers while bypassing traditional online travel agencies reducing commission costs for hotel franchisees.

Wyndham feeds rates and availability directly into tools like Meta’s Muse, OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Dots, Google’s AI Mode, Anthropic’s Claude and Instinct. The system connects through Wyndham’s central reservation system and AI-powered voice channels handling tasks like reservations modifications and natural language queries.

The direct-booking functionality has been deployed across 1,700 Wyndham properties. Wyndham plans to integrate its 129m-member Wyndham Rewards loyalty programme into the search criteria so AI assistants prioritise loyalty perks during automated bookings. Only about 11pc of hotel organisations globally have fully opened and deployed their systems to let AI agents complete bookings.

Geoff Ballotti shared “Wyndham has opened its central reservation system to autonomous AI booking agents, enabling travellers to discover and book rooms via conversational AI platforms.”
