Lufthansa has suspended all flights to and from Tehran from April 6 to probably April 11 due to the situation in the Middle East and the alert for potential Iranian retaliation.

Tensions rose briefly when an Iranian news agency suggested Tehran airspace was closed for military drills, which was later denied.

Countries in the region, including the U.S., have been on high alert since Israeli warplanes were suspected of bombing the Iranian embassy compound in Syria on April 1.

Lufthansa, along with its subsidiary Austrian Airlines, are among the few Western carriers operating flights to Tehran, with Austrian Airlines continuing its services while Lufthansa monitors the situation for the safety of passengers and crew.
