More than 90pc of respondents in a survey by Dublin City Council believe that tourism has a positive impact of Dublin’s economy, heritage, cultural activities, and city atmosphere.

While 81pc report positive interactions with tourists, concerns exist regarding the pressure tourism places on infrastructure, the environment, and residents’ quality of life.

A majority of respondents (64pc) support a proposed tourist bed tax, suggesting that funds be allocated to improve public transport and public realm safety.

Residents advocate for better technology use in enhancing tourist experiences and express the need for improvements in public transportation options.

The survey, conducted from May 20 to June 1, 2025, involved over 1,000 residents and explored their views on tourism in Dublin.
