A survey by the Licensed Vintners Association (LVA) found that 96pc of Dublin pubs are concerned about the current level of policing in the capital, with almost half stating that their customers have expressed security concerns while on the city streets.

Dublin pubs had to contact gardaí an average of four times in the last 12 months, with one in eight pubs making 10 or more calls during that time period.

Approximately 350 pubs in Dublin participated in the survey, highlighting the widespread worry about policing levels in the city.

LVA CEO Donall O’Keeffe emphasized the need for increased policing resources to enhance safety and maintain a strong policing presence in Dublin, stressing the importance of Government support in providing the necessary funding in Budget 2025.
