The Cuban government is to allow Royal Caribbean International and Azamara Club Cruises to operate services to the Caribbean island from Florida.
Royal Caribbean’s Empress of the Seas will visit Havana on three itineraries: a five-night cruise departing April 19 2017, from Miami; a seven-night cruise departing April 30, from Tampa; and a five-night cruise departing May 20, from Tampa.
Azamara Quest has added Havana to its March 21 2017 cruise from Miami, the 13-night cruise will include an overnight stay at the capital city as well as
from sightseeing in Old Havana to a tour of Ernest Hemingway’s old haunts. The line also said it looks to add Cuba calls to other itineraries.
Richard Fain, chairman and chief executive of Royal Caribbean Cruises said “our guests have expressed real interest in having the opportunity to experience Cuba, and we look forward to bringing them there.,”
The two lines will provide passengers with travel direct to Cuba from Miami for what’s termed “the purpose of people-to-people exchanges between guests and Cuban citizens and other travel permitted by current US regulations“.
