Literary stars have drawn visitors from around the world to the landmark 55th Listowel Writers’ Week. The festival took place for five days at the end of May in Listowel. Audiences gathered for a programme with influential voices in literature, journalism, economics and public life.

The event brought together contributors that included Nicola Sturgeon, Fergal Keane, David McWilliams, Colm Tóibín, John Banville, Miriam O’Callaghan, Andrew O’Hagan, Sally Hayden, Julian Borger, Liz Nugent, Diarmaid Ferriter and Katriona O’Sullivan. A record number of events sold out across the programme. Visitors came from across Ireland, England, North America, Europe and Australia.

Ned O’Sullivan Chairperson of Listowel Writers’ Week shared “Reaching our 55th anniversary is a remarkable milestone but what is most encouraging is that the festival continues to grow and attract new audiences from Ireland and overseas.” He shared “I want to sincerely thank our audiences, volunteers, sponsors, funders, writers, artists and local community for helping make this anniversary year such a success.”
