Spanish travel journalists have visited Cork on the new Aer Lingus flight from Santiago de Compostela.
The group, hosted by Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Aer Lingus, created content for audiences of around one million readers. The visit highlighted Cork’s attractions and direct access from northern Spain.
The itinerary included a guided walking tour of Cork city, a private tour of Franciscan Well Brewery, a Cork Harbour Greenway Cycle Tour, a traditional music session with The Lee Sessions, a boat tour with Cork Harbour Boat Hire, a food tour with Kinsale Food Tours, and visits to Blarney Castle and Gardens, Midleton Distillery and Titanic Experience Cobh. The visit aimed to promote Cork to Spanish holidaymakers through direct access and experiences.
Susan Bolger shared “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of travel journalists from Spain to visit Cork. There really is no better way to showcase Cork’s unique appeal than by experiencing it at first-hand. Through the articles and content they create and share, the journalists will inspire their audiences to come and experience Cork and Ireland for themselves. We are really pleased to support the new Aer Lingus service from Santiago de Compostela to Cork. As an island destination, we know there’s a proven direct correlation between access and growth in inbound tourism, so this new service will certainly help boost tourism business from northern Spain – supporting Tourism Ireland’s ambition to deliver step-change growth from Mainland Europe in 2026 and beyond.”
