Air Moldova given more time to certify aircraft & resume flying

Air Moldova has been given until mid-4Q 2023 to reactivate its aircraft. The airline operated a Dublin to Chisinau route from 2012, peaking at daily, but has not been operational since May. The Dublin to Chisinau is also operated by FlyONe and HiSky, b both 4w.

Air Moldova announced the suspension of all operations on May 2 due to financial constraints, planning restructuring measures and filing for creditor protection. The airline entered a period of ‘expedited restructuring’ following public criticism from Moldova’s Civil Aeronautic Authority.

On August 19 flights were further suspended until October 15. Air Moldova does not have any active or certified aircraft and its A320 navigability certificate expired on August 21, 2023. Due to the expiration of Air Moldova’s air operator certificate, the airline’s service will remain suspended until October 31st. Airlines lacking an aircraft airworthiness certificate are not eligible to possess an AOC.

In 2019 the Irish authorities warned and sanctioned Air Moldova for transporting to Dublin Romanian passengers who only identify themselves with an Identity Card (ID) issued by Romania. Romanian passengers entering the Irish territory coming from outside the Community must also carry a valid passport issued by Romania.
