The Accor Hotel Group reported a 25pc decrease in forward bookings from Europe to the United States for summer 2025.

Chief executive officer Sébastien Bazin indicated that this decline represents an acceleration from an earlier 18-20 per cent drop in the first quarter of the year.

According to Mr Bazin, European travellers are opting for alternative destinations like Canada, South America, and Egypt due to concerns over travel to the US.

Reports of tourist detentions by US border agents have contributed to a negative perception surrounding travel to the US, creating what Bazin termed “bad buzz.”

Mr Bazin shared: Sébastien Bazin said. “The drop is an acceleration from an 18-20pc decline in the first 90 days of the year. It’s probably anxiety to go in an unknown territory While cases of people being detained at the border are anecdotal for now, they have nevertheless created a bad buzz that has started to show up in booking trends,”
