Slievemore Heritage Trail has been launched by Minister Dara Calleary, combining archaeology, technology, and storytelling to enhance visitor experience.

With the aid of a €165,197.51 LEADER grant, augmented reality is utilised to guide visitors through the Deserted Village, preserving historical significance and engaging them through immersive narratives.

The trail spans around 3km, showcasing megalithic portal and court tombs along with the renowned Deserted Village.

An app has been created for the trail, featuring QR codes on posts that visitors can scan to access information and stories about each site as they explore.

The app, available on Google Play and the Apple Store under the name ‘Slievemore Heritage Trail,’ offers a convenient way for visitors to engage with the history and narratives of the trail.
