Aena holds an extraordinary board meeting on 17 February 2026 to approve a record investment exceeding ten billion euros for Spanish airports covering 2027 to 2031.
The programme includes major expansions at Madrid Barajas and preparatory works at Barcelona El Prat alongside upgrades at key regional sites to meet long term demand.
Airlines have voiced concerns over possible tariff rises above five per cent annually despite earlier commitments to containment with some industry sources warning that any increase beyond a freeze would harm competitiveness.
