Aer Lingus has been approved to participate in the TSA PreCheck programme, offering eligible customers expedited security screening at U.S. airports, which enhances the travel experience for those flying to and from Europe.

Customers utilizing TSA PreCheck can enjoy benefits such as faster access to airport gates and do not have to remove shoes, belts, or laptops from carry-on bags, resulting in average wait times of only ten minutes.

Eligibility for TSA PreCheck is available to US citizens and citizens from 16 Global Entry countries, who must apply for a five-year membership and receive a known traveller number (KTN) for use during flight check-in processes, including through the Aer Lingus app.

Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection program that provides expedited entry for eligible travelers, including access to TSA PreCheck, and requires renewal every five years at a cost of $100 which rises to $120 in 2024.

Eligible participants include U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and citizens from Argentina, Bahrain, Brazil, Colombia, Croatia, Dominican Republic, England, Germany, India, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland and Taiwan; applicants must complete an application, which typically takes about two weeks for vetting.

To renew, applicants can start one year prior to expiration by logging into their Trusted Traveler Program account, submitting payment information, and possibly scheduling an in-person or virtual interview, which may not be required for all renewals.

It is advisable to begin the renewal process early to avoid gaps in membership, as processing times can vary significantly and may take anywhere from 24 hours to over a year; alternatives like Mobile Passport Control can provide expedited entry if Global Entry is not renewed in time.
