The IALPA pilots union at Aer Lingus has rejected an interim Labour Court recommendation for a 9.25pc pay increase. The pilots have been seeking 23.8pc.

IALPA rejected the plan and put it to a ballot of members, with 94.4pc voting against it on a turnout of just under 98pc

The rejection resulted in the Aer Lingus losing the opportunity to become launch customer for the A321XLR. A second A321XLR has also been redirected to another airline within the IAG group.
