Air Canada has placed an order for five additional A220-300 aircraft from Airbus, marking the fifth anniversary since receiving its first A220, bringing the total to 65 firm orders.
The airline has previously ordered 45 aircraft in 2016 and reordered 15 more in 2022, demonstrating strong demand and successful operations since launching the route in January 2020.
The A220 offers significant economic benefits for Air Canada, with reduced fuel consumption and emissions, as well as enhanced customer comfort, suitable for routes up to 3,600 nautical miles.
The expanded fleet supports Canada’s aerospace sector and aligns with Air Canada’s commitment to sustainability by incorporating sustainable aviation fuel into its operations.
