Airbnb reported a 70pc increase in searches for castle accommodations in Ireland over the past year, attributed to the popularity of the UK show “The Traitors,” which features stunning locations that inspired viewers.
Two castles in the South East, Huntington Castle in Carlow and a 16th-century Medieval Towerhouse in Kilkenny, have become among the most wishlisted destinations on Airbnb, catering to fans of the show looking for unique stays.
Huntington Castle, built in 1625, offers historic guest rooms with period features and access to gardens, situated within the scenic Slaney Valley, while the recently refurbished Medieval Towerhouse in Kilkenny provides a medieval experience without modern distractions.
The Medieval Towerhouse, located just five minutes from Kilkenny City, allows up to 10 guests to immerse themselves in history, with easy access to Kilkenny’s rich historical landmarks, enhancing the appeal for those seeking cultural experiences.
