A US court has allowed Airlines for America (A4A) to proceed with its legal challenge regarding refunds related to the Healthy Airport Ordinance at San Francisco International Airport.

The ruling came from the US District Court for the Northern District of California, rejecting the city’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit filed by A4A on behalf of its member airlines, including major carriers like American Airlines and Southwest Airlines.

A4A argues that the Healthy Airport Ordinance, which requires airlines to provide health benefits or contribute to a city healthcare fund, violates federal law and disrupts collective bargaining agreements.

The court determined that the city already has the necessary records to calculate the refund amounts, despite the city’s claim that individual proof from each airline would be required.
