Amazon.com is experiencing delays in the delivery of four A330-300(P2F) aircraft to Hawaiian Airlines due to issues at Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) and ST Engineering Aerospace’s facilities.
The aircraft were to be placed with Hawaiian Airlines (HA, Honolulu) by Dublin-based lessor Altavair under a ten-year contract
Altavair CEO Steve Rimmer described the facilities as an “unmitigated disaster” and attributed the delays to strategic labour allocation decisions made by the conversion specialist.
Rimmer criticized EFW for prioritizing contracts with Airbus over conversion customers, suggesting a lack of skilled labor availability for the necessary projects.
EFW, a joint venture between ST Engineering Aerospace and Airbus, is in close communication with customers and is working to adhere to project schedules for aircraft redeliveries.
