American Airlines has revealed details its largest Admirals Club lounge in Charlotte. The new facility emphasises premium travel with southern charm and forms part of the carrier’s ongoing investment in customer experience at key hubs. The airline plans to open the largest Admirals Club lounge in its global network at Charlotte Douglas International Airport spanning more than 40,000 square feet.
The new lounge will be centrally located on the mezzanine level of the airport’s main Atrium, providing views of the concourse below. Construction is slated to begin later in 2026, with the final opening targeted for early 2028. Charlotte’s existing lounge locations including the standard Admirals Clubs in Concourses B and C/D, as well as the quick-stop Provisions by Admirals Club grab-and-go kiosk near Gate A1, remain fully operational during the multi-year construction phase. The layout is designed to mirror local North Carolina accents, integrating visual nods to Charlotte’s tree canopy and textile heritage with classic southern hospitality.
Once completed, the space will feature tailored relaxation zones divided for dining, business tasks and leisure. Premium refreshments include multiple high-end bars and self-service food serveries. Spa services include luxury spa-style shower suites for passengers looking to refresh between connecting flights. This announcement marks an expansion of a broader premium strategy for Charlotte Douglas International Airport, which stands as American Airlines’ second-largest hub. This mega-lounge joins other high-end infrastructure overhauls previously revealed by the carrier, which include the introduction of the airport’s first-ever luxury Flagship Lounge intended for international premium passengers. Combined, these projects aim to resolve long-standing overcrowding issues travellers face at the hub.
