Dublin Airport is conducting a trial with four AI robot assistants to aid passengers with additional needs, particularly those with disabilities and hidden disabilities, assisting them with luggage transport to their specified gates.
The robots – named Handler Bing, Bilbot Baggins, Sir Bot A Lot, and K2DC – are currently operational in Terminal 1 and can carry up to two cabin bags along with other belongings, providing a practical solution for passengers.
The AI robots, deployed by the airport’s Innovation Hub, not only transport luggage but also guide passengers to their gates, enhancing the overall airport experience for travelers.
Graeme McQueen, Media Relations Manager at Dublin Airport Authority (daa), highlighted the positive reception to the robots among passengers, emphasizing that the technology has a fun aspect while serving a practical purpose of simplifying navigation and improving the airport experience. The trial service is available from post-Terminal 1 security to gates 102-119, showcasing the continued use of AI and automation to enhance operations at Dublin Airport.
