Airports Council International World has revealed the 2025 rankings of the world’s busiest airports.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport remains the world’s busiest airport for passenger traffic with 106.3m passengers and Dubai International Airport follows with 95.2m passengers. Tokyo Haneda Airport rises to third with 91.7m passengers and global total passengers reach 9.8 billion which represents an increase of 3.6pc from 2024.
Shanghai Pudong records the biggest jump in the top 10 rising from tenth to fifth and Guangzhou Baiyun rebounds to ninth position up from 57th in 2022. International passenger traffic reaches 4.0 billion which represents a gain of 5.9pc versus 2024 and Dubai remains first while London Heathrow and Incheon hold onto second and third respectively. Air cargo volumes increase by 2.9pc year-on-year to almost 128.9m metric tonnes and Hong Kong and Shanghai Pudong remain first and second respectively while Anchorage gains third rank.
Global aircraft movements reach around 101.5m which represents a gain of 2.3pc from 2024 results and Chicago O’Hare ranks first followed by Atlanta and Dallas Fort Worth. Asia-Pacific airports rebound strongly and drive changes in global airport rankings while four airports in the top 10 are in the United States. ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci confirms that these hubs keep people and goods moving supporting global trade tourism and economic growth in their communities and regions.
