The Irish Aviation Authority has published a Safety Leaflet on dangers and precautions near aircraft propellers. Rules include avoiding loose clothing or accessories that could catch if the propeller moves.

Pilots must never place any body part in the propeller arc and always check ignition off, battery off, throttle closed and brakes on. Propellers should turn in the normal direction unless the flight manual permits otherwise.

Hand starting requires specific training while propeller rotation follows the POH for engines like radial or Rotax 912.
