AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines has suspended eight scheduled routes to Russia following an incident involving its E190 aircraft near Grozny, which was reportedly hit by an anti-aircraft missile.

The State Civil Aviation Authority of Azerbaijan mandated these suspensions, affecting services from Baku to several Russian airports, while allowing flights to Moscow and St. Petersburg to continue.

Other international airlines, including Turkmenistan Airlines and Qazaq Air, have also altered their Russian routes due to ongoing risk assessments and geopolitical developments.

The incident involving the E190 resulted in casualties, with 29 out of 67 passengers on board surviving the crash, prompting discussions on air safety in Russian airspace.
