Boeing has settled several cases out of court with a Canadian man whose family perished in the Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302 crash on 10 March 2019.
The settlements occurred on 13 January 2026, shortly after jury selection and before opening statements in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago.
The cases, filed by Manant Vaidya for the estates of his parents Pannagesh and Hansini Vaidya, sister Kosha Vaidya, her husband Preritkumar Dixit, and their children Ashka and Anushka Dixit, involved confidential amounts.
Boeing previously accepted responsibility for the crash that killed all 157 on board. The company has settled over 90pc of civil lawsuits from the two B737 MAX accidents and paid billions in compensation.
The ET302 crash followed the Lion Air flight JT610 incident in October 2018, both involving B737-8 aircraft, resulting in global grounding and scrutiny of Boeing’s safety practices. The trial focused solely on damages. The company maintains acceptance of legal responsibility in these proceedings.
Lawyer Robert Clifford shared “Boeing accepted full responsibility for the senseless and preventable loss of these innocent lives, and this corporate giant has now been held accountable to this family.”
Shelley Spreier shared “We are deeply sorry to those who lost loved ones. We made an upfront commitment to fully and fairly compensate the families of those who were lost and have accepted legal responsibility for the accidents in these proceedings.”
